MP3 is made with a LAME encoder that runs in your browser. If the audio is already MP3 at or below the chosen bitrate and you change nothing else, it is copied as is without losing quality.

Common Use Cases
  • Saving the soundtrack of a lecture, talk or interview as MP3
  • Turning a screen recording or phone video into a small audio file
  • Converting a WAV or FLAC file to MP3 so it takes less space
  • Cutting a short section of a video's sound as an MP3
Tips & Tricks
  • Everything runs on your device. Nothing is uploaded
  • If the sound is already MP3 at or below your chosen bitrate, it is copied without losing quality
  • A trimmed or resampled file is always re-encoded
  • M4A and OGG are only offered if your browser can encode them. Firefox cannot encode AAC
  • Very long files in WAV can be too big for the browser's memory. Choose MP3 or trim the clip
  • A file with no audio track shows an error instead of an empty result
